  11. The DDN MANAGEMENT BULLETIN is distributed online by the DDN Network
  12. Information Center under DCA contract as a means of communicating
  13. official policy, procedures and other information of concern to
  14. management personnel at DDN facilities.  Back issues may be read
  15. through the TACNEWS server ("@n" command at the TAC) or may be
  16. obtained by FTP (or Kermit) from the NIC.DDN.MIL host [192.67.67.20]
  17. using login="anonymous" and password="guest".  The pathname
  18. for bulletins is DDN-NEWS:DDN-MGT-BULLETIN-nn.TXT (where "nn" is the
  19. bulletin number).

  22.         USAGE SENSITIVE BILLING (USB) SERVICE DESK CHANGE
  23.  
  24. In April 1990, DCA established the Usage Sensitive Billing (USB)
  25. Service Desk at the DDN Network Information Center (NIC).  This
  26. bulletin announces that the USB support service will be merged 
  27. with the ongoing DDN User Assistance services provided by the
  28. NIC.
  29.  
  30. No change will occur in the level of support provided to DDN users.
  31. User Assistance (UA) staff will continue to respond to general billing
  32. questions, as well as specific queries regarding network usage,
  33. network connections, network traffic volume, dial-up time, network
  34. addresses, and so on.

  36. The main change is that users are now asked to call the NIC
  37. hotline phone number at 1-800-235-3155, rather than the previously
  38. announced USB phone number.  In addition, the USB support hours have
  39. been extended to 6 a.m. through 5 p.m., Pacific time.

  41. In order to accurately and efficiently respond to billing questions,
  42. the UA service desk staff will continue to have several sources of
  43. reference information available.

  45. Billing questions can be asked of the UA service desk via telephone,
  46. electronic mail, or U.S. postal mail.  Note that although the toll
  47. free telephone number is now the same as the NIC hotline phone number,
  48. the separate electronic mailbox BILLING@NIC.DDN.MIL has been retained.
